Surprise Yard Work!

While we were in Chicago, my parents surprised us by doing some errands around our house. The big one was this:

Cut & edged grass and a clean flower bed!

They put down the black weed matting and new pine straw.

The old pine straw went in the back yard. Which, by the way...this is the back yard. (left side)

I posted these back yard photos to solicit suggestions :) We want to cut out all the growth and put in ______. Different trees? Shrubs and/or bushes? More grass? Mulch? Rocks? Ideas!

And once again, a HUGE thank you to my parents. We didn't ask for their help, but they knew we were behind and they helped out like parents do. We love and appreciate you both!

Decorating Fun: Guest Bathroom

So... slowly, but surely we are nesting in the new place. Last weekend I went shopping with my mom for a shower curtain for the guest bathroom. This is what we ended up with:

Tim's parents bought us a console table, and I was determined to put it together myself. And I did...most of it...Tim had to help with the bottom shelf. :)

So, you're probably going to get tired of these...but I'm going to try and remember some of our firsts in the new house. I want to start with...

Moving Day 1: Where is Tim?

Ah, yes. Where is Tim? Yesterday around 5:30 p.m. Tim's family arrived to meet me and my parents at the new house...but where was he? Hrmmmm. He decided to "cat nap" and in doing so he missed doing this:

This is about a 1/3 of what was in the U haul- load 1.

Between all of us, we unloaded lots of boxes, mattresses, TV, dresser mirror, and the small kitchen table- all in less than half an hour. Tim showed up AFTER we had finished :) Good timing.

The all star of the day was this champ:

Katie rocks!

She was hauling like no one's business. Total rock star! But, she won't be here today so Tim's going to pull his weight. Which he is doing right now while I'm blogging. He and his dad are loading up round two with the majority of our furniture. I can't wait to see what everything looks like once its inside. Unfortunately, everything is going to be slow because of the stormy weather. So wish us luck :)
